Thank you for choosing a Pure Body Fix® massage treatment. This page contains important information to help you get the best outcome from your massage treatment.

While many of the treatment benefits will be experienced immediately after your massage, some improvements and changes may be experienced over the next 24-48 hours.

After Your Massage

After your massage we recommend that you follow our aftercare advice:

  • Drink plenty of fluids to keep hydrated. Water is best but green or herbal teas are good because of their low caffeine.
  • Avoid stimulants such as strong caffeine based drinks and alcohol.
  • Avoid consuming a heavy meal after your massage.
  • Spend the rest of your day relaxing after a deep tissue massage.
  • A warm bath or extended shower is a great way for your muscles to continue to soak up the massage benefits.
  • If your massage is on the same day that you exercise, it’s better to do it before the massage. However, light exercise is okay after sports & remedial massages.
  • Start any exercises recommended by your therapist the day after your massage.
  • Make a note of how you feel after your massage and when any symptoms return. This will help your therapist at your next appointment plan your treatment.

Contra-actions

Your post-massage experience will vary depending on the duration and treatment received. Some massages are more intense than others and have a greater impact on how you feel afterwards. Therefore, you may experience some of the following:

  • A feeling of being “spaced out”, which should pass within 20 minutes after the treatment.
  • Deep relaxation and tiredness.
  • For sports & remedial massages, some dull muscle ache, which will clear within 24 hours.
  • An increased need to urinate for the next 8 hours.
  • A feeling of heightened emotions.
